WE'VE GOT
ANSWERS
First, decide whether our on-site Liberty Ladder System℠ or our In-Home Lessons program is the best fit for your family. Consider your schedule, location preference, lesson goals, and budget to see which program makes the most sense for you.
If you’re interested in our Liberty Ladder System℠, we highly recommend booking a free on-site trial lesson first so you can experience our space, teachers, and community before committing. If you want to skip the trial, you can self-book your ideal lesson day, time, and teacher right from our program page. Not sure where to start? Just send us an email or call/text (615) 461-5925 — we’d love to help you find the perfect match.
If you’re interested in In-Home Lessons, contact us so we can gather your intake form and match your child with the best teacher for their goals.
In both cases, your enrollment is officially secured once you’ve signed our Terms & Conditions and paid your first month’s tuition.
Our Liberty Ladder System℠ is the perfect balance of private on-site lessons and community learning. On average, on-site students receive three weeks of one-on-one lessons plus one week of group classes each month — Performance Classes for ages 5–9 and Industry Classes for ages 10–18. This combination helps students build confidence, meet other musicians, and stay motivated. Because we believe so strongly in this hybrid model, all on-site students enroll in our Liberty Ladder System℠ — there is no “private-only” option for on-site lessons.
Performance and Industry Classes are core components of our on-site Liberty Ladder System℠!
Performance Classes (ages 5–9) encourage regular practice and focus on building confidence playing in front of a group, along with giving and receiving helpful feedback — all within a supportive music community.
Industry Classes (ages 10–18) introduce older students to the different paths available to them in the music industry through short lectures and group activities.
All classes are led by our skilled LMA instructors, so your child might even see their private teacher leading a session! We release the full group class schedule at the start of each year, making it easy for families to plan ahead and book with their favorite teachers.
New students can try a 30-minute private lesson at our on-site studio for free — no strings attached! You’re welcome to try more than one teacher or instrument to find the best fit. No need to bring an instrument — we have plenty at the studio — but you’re welcome to bring your own guitar, ukulele, or bass if you’d like. During your free trial lesson, we’ll:
Give you a full tour of our space
Introduce you to your child's trial teacher
Walk through a typical lesson, including get-to-know-you questions, warmups, music theory exercises, and repertoire your child can take home to practice
Parents are welcome to sit in during the trial. We recommend quietly observing so your student can focus on connecting with the teacher — but we’re happy to answer questions afterward.
After the trial, you’ll receive an automatic email inviting you to confirm your spot with that teacher (if available) or browse other openings at our on-site location. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll follow up personally to help with next steps.
Our In-Home Lesson program is perfect for busy families who want the convenience of music lessons brought right to them. Instead of attending the private lessons and group classes included in our Liberty Ladder System℠, in-home students receive weekly one-on-one lessons in the comfort of their own homes with one of our specially trained teachers.
On average, students receive four weeks of lessons each month. Once we receive your intake form, we’ll send you a teacher match as soon as possible — this process can take a few days to a few weeks, depending on availability, lesson speciality, and family preferences.
For the best learning experience, we do not allow parents to sit in on lessons, group classes, or rehearsals after the initial trial lesson. A private lesson environment helps students focus, bond with their teacher, and feel comfortable expressing themselves without distraction.
For in-home lessons, we do require that a trusted adult be present in the home during the lesson, but we ask that families create a quiet, distraction-free space for their child to work with their private teacher one-on-one.
We offer guitar/ukulele, piano, drums, voice, bass, songwriting, music theory, music technology, and composition. We do not offer brass or orchestral lessons at this point in time.
We teach ages 5–18, from complete beginners to advanced musicians preparing for gigs or auditions. Skill level is based on progress, not years of experience — we meet students where they are.
On-site lessons take place at our Nolensville studio (236 Muir Ave).
In-home lessons are available in Nolensville, Brentwood, Franklin, and Nashville, depending on teacher availability and travel routes.
You can find the most up-to-date tuition rates on each program page below — we keep them posted so there are no surprises. Liberty Ladder System℠
Tuition is billed automatically on the 1st of the month, with a late fee applied after 10 days for overdue invoices. Your monthly tuition stays the same all year, even in months with school-wide breaks or extra weeks — it all evens out. New families pay a one-time sign-up fee per student, and sibling discounts are available for in-home instruction.
No problem — we’ll prorate your first month’s tuition so you only pay for the instruction you receive. Your billing will switch to our regular monthly cycle the following month.
We provide most equipment for on-site lessons at our studio, though guitar/bass/ukulele students should bring their own guitar/bass/ukulele, and composition/music technology students should bring their personal laptops. We furnish new on-site students with an LMA tote bag and binder to organize written materials. In-home students need to provide their own instrument(s) and equipment. For students needing gear, we do not provide loaner instruments, but we can recommend affordable local options. Books and other materials assigned by teachers are the student’s responsibility to purchase.
We follow the Williamson County School calendar for major breaks and are open during most federal holidays. During the summer months, we operate as usual but take off the week of 4th of July. On-site lessons run Monday–Friday, 3:30–8:30pm. Group classes usually take place during the third week of each month.
In-home lessons are more flexible — we can often accommodate daytime spots during the week for homeschool families or students with non-traditional schedules.
We keep things simple: we’re a month-to-month program with no long-term contracts. To discontinue, please email written notice to info@LibertyMusicAcademyTN.com before the 1st of any future month. Mid-month refunds aren’t offered, so we recommend finishing out the current month before discontinuing.
We don’t offer a “pause” option — active lessons and monthly tuition payments keep your student’s teacher, day, and time reserved just for them.
Your child’s first lesson is all about building a strong foundation. They’ll meet their teacher, review goals, and check in on fundamentals and repertoire. Their teacher may also recommend a book or app to order before the next lesson.
At your first on-site lesson, we’ll take your student’s headshot for our lesson management system and give them an LMA tote bag and binder — please bring these to every LMA activity going forward to keep materials organized.
For in-home lessons, the first visit is a great time to show your teacher to their dedicated lesson space as well as provide Wi-Fi access for digital tools.
Life happens! Just cancel through our lesson management software, Opus1, at least 24 hours in advance. On-site students receive a Makeup Credit (valid for 60 days), and in-home students get one Monetary Credit per month per subscription, applied toward their next invoice. We generally do not reschedule in-home lessons when families are unavailable — the credit is our way of keeping things simple and predictable for both teachers and students. Lessons missed without at least 24 hours’ notice — for any reason — are forfeited, so we can still compensate our teachers for reserving that time.
For on-site lessons, we’ll always try to schedule a qualified substitute teacher first so your family can stick to your regular routine. In these instances, you'll receive a clear notification with the substitute’s name, bio, and headshot — along with a note from our admin team explaining the change.
For in-home lessons, our first step is to cancel the lesson and apply a Monetary Credit to your next invoice — this does not affect your student’s monthly credit allotment. We generally do not reschedule or send substitute teachers for in-home lessons unless it’s a longer-term teacher absence.
If we are ever unable to provide service due to staff conflicts, lack of substitutes, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, we will always apply the appropriate Makeup Credit (for on-site lessons) or Monetary Credit (for in-home lessons) to your student’s account.
All communication is handled safely through our lesson management software, Opus1, where you can message your teacher at any time. After each LMA activity, your teacher will share lesson notes through Opus1 with concise summaries of what your student is working on, clear assignments and expectations for homework, and realistic progress reports.
While we hire instructors who are committed to their students for the long term, we also understand that exciting new opportunities sometimes arise that align with a teacher’s broader career goals.
If your child’s teacher is moving on, we’ll let you know in advance and introduce a new instructor who’s a strong fit.
To ensure a smooth transition, we’ll invite your current teacher to share notes on your child’s goals, progress, and learning style with the new instructor. Combined with their full lesson history in Opus1, this allows the new teacher to pick up right where things left off.
Change can be an adjustment, but it can also bring fresh ideas and growth—and we’re here to support your family every step of the way.
Absolutely! Each year we release dates, ages, pricing, and registration for our summer camps — check the Summer Camps page for the latest info.
Our Student Band Program is an audition-based opportunity for young musicians ages 8-18 to take their skills to the next level! Auditions are held each January and August using our prep packets, and some students may be invited to callbacks to help us build the best-fit bands.
Accepted students commit to weekly rehearsals for the full semester and perform live at local Nashville venues. All band members must also take private lessons with an LMA instructor during the semester, with band tuition billed separately from private lesson tuition. We welcome current LMA students as well as those who haven’t studied with us before to audition!
We host two studio-wide recitals each year — Spring and Winter — where our on-site and in-home students can show off what they’ve been learning. Recitals are optional for most students but required for Student Band members, along with their semester's Student Band Showcase.
Your child’s safety is our top priority. All LMA team members undergo background checks, and every activity — whether on-site or in-home — is monitored with safety cameras. We hire teachers with strong educational and/or professional music experience, and we love when they bring back fresh ideas from gigs, recordings, or tours!
We’re located in Burkitt Commons with plenty of parking — be sure to check our Parking page before your visit. Parents are welcome to hang in our comfortable lobby during lessons or simply drop off their students. Please note: our teaching studios are upstairs with no elevator access, though our lobby is fully wheelchair-accessible. We look forward to expanding to a ground-floor space in the future to better accommodate students with mobility needs!
LMA welcomes students of all races, genders, and backgrounds, and we’re proud to be an LGBTQ+ and Foster-Friendly business. We also strive to support neurodivergent learners and those with sensory or learning differences in all our learning spaces, creating an adaptable, inclusive environment where every student can thrive and enjoy their music experience.
At LMA, we offer more than just music lessons. We help kids grow into confident, creative musicians with real-world skills they can use for a lifetime — whether they dream of a career in music or just love to play. Our unique combination of private lessons, group learning, and performance opportunities creates a well-rounded experience you won’t find anywhere else!
